If you add tiny amounts of dilute NaOH to a concentrated solution of Tramadol or Codeine or both?
Will you because of the extra OH atoms turn the codeine or tramadol mixture into different Opiates like morphine, vicodin, dihydrocodeine etc etc.
then neutralize it with HCL filter the solutes would it stay the same or change like I mentioned above?
Thanks, need a chemical answer!
Answers:
1not sure what you are asking
but if you add NaOH to an aqueous solution of codeine and/or tramadol they will precipitate (as the free base).
otherwise, they should not undergoe any chemical change
adding HCl would make them soluble again, the solutes would then pass through filter paper
