Meridia is an oral medication, used as an appetite suppressant. It should be used in association with diet, exercise, and lifestyle modification advice for the short-term management of obesity.
Meridia appetite suppressants are not a substitute for proper diet. For maximum effects, they must be used in conjunction with a diet and exercise program.
Take by mouth exactly as directed by your doctor, usually once daily. The full effect on weight may require four to six weeks. Do not increase your dose of Meridia, take it more frequently or use it for a longer period of time than prescribed because this drug can be habit-forming. Also, if using Meridia for a longer period of time, do not suddenly stop using it without your doctor's approval. Over time, Meridia may not work as well as it did at the start.
Some side effects are raised heart rate, raised blood pressure, restlessness, nervousness, difficulty sleeping, and dry mouth. If you notice other side effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. If the above side effects persist or become troublesome, inform your doctor.
If you miss a dose of Meridia and it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule.
Store Meridia at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15-30 degrees C) away from light and moisture. Keep this and all medications out of the reach of children. |
